Absolutely atrocious fish and chips — one of the worst experiences we’ve ever had. My wife and I have just had what I can honestly say were some of the most atrocious fish and chips we’ve ever eaten. The food was excessively oily and greasy, and the fish of the day was mullet — unfortunately, it was dreadful. But what really shocked us was what happened with our order. After waiting for it, we discovered that our food had actually been handed to someone else. That person then returned it, and the staff simply gave the same order to us. Knowing that someone else had taken possession of our food and potentially touched or handled it, we found this absolutely disgusting and completely unacceptable from a food-hygiene perspective. The whole experience left such a bad taste in our mouths — quite literally. We’re still trying to get rid of the aftertaste. It’s disappointing because this business could be so much better. The presentation from the outside doesn't exactly inspire confidence, and the staff appeared completely uninterested and as though they couldn't wait to finish their shift. A friendly attitude, pride in the product and a decent-looking shopfront would go a long way. Businesses like this need to remember that people are paying good money for food and expect it to be prepared, handled and presented with some basic care and pride. Sadly, we won't be going back. Yuck, yuck

Prawns usually good if weather has been fine, otherwise frozen fresh. Fish is very poor and certainly not fresh from boats, Usually dry and little else to offer fresh. Could not order any Pacific oysters only very small and black Sydney Rock oysters. Hopefully thing will improve now Maclean co-op has closed and Iluka will do all the filleting.Need to lift their game thats for sure

It’s lovely to sit by the water. The food came out quickly because they were not busy. But the service was disinterested and it felt like asking questions was a real bother. There is no longer grilled fish and no local fish and chip pack. We’ve been coming here for ten years and never expect fine dining but even for basic fish and chips our experience today was lacking.

Fish was very fresh and hubby said very tasty. Chips were crunchy and tasty The only option for me was salad as they did not do grilled fish, being gluten free that was really disapointing. I got a bowl side salad which was fresh but not filling. So if you need grilled or gf do not go, otherwise if you love fish and chips it would be great. The lady serving us was very rude, short in answers and just seemed she had enough. Maybe it is time for her to find another job or retire!

The only reason it gets any stars is because the chips were ok. Batter on the shark was dark and dripping in old oil, had to be peeled off to eat fish below. The potato scallops were inedible as they were cooked in the same old, practically rancid oil and the interior was mush!!!! Disgusting and my partner who actually ate the battered fish had terrible diarrhoea hours later. Plus $5 for two little containers of tartare??? Avoid this place.
