We visited The Happy Butcher on Tuesday, 11 August, for the first time. As we entered, we were greeted by a young staff member asking, “Are you just looking?” I replied that we were there to buy some rissoles. Unfortunately, what was more disappointing was the unfriendly manner in which we were served. We certainly didn’t feel very welcome or comfortable in the store. With a name like The Happy Butcher, you would expect a friendly and welcoming experience from the staff. First impressions are important, and sadly, based on this experience, we would probably be reluctant to return.

DO NOT GO TO THIS BUTCHER!!!!! EDIT - I’m sorry but $150 for 2kg of “premium beef mince” that was no joke full of gristle (it was disgusting while eating it having to pick out the hard and tough bits) and 4kg worth of chicken that turned into about 2.5kg of chicken after I cleaned all the bone bits and blood/bruises off it is absolutely disgusting. No offence but I don’t really care much about who you are when you’re ripping off this lovely community you speak of. You don’t offer quality, I’ve come from a similarly small town where the quality was amazing, we never bought meat from a supermarket because the butchers pricing was fair AND amazing quality. You don’t have to choose just one. Absolutely disgusting. You’re the kind of small business that gives small business a bad name. ________________ Just moved to PM and wanted to find our forever butcher so we tried The Happy Butcher as it was closest to where we now lived. I ordered 4kgs of chicken breast and 2kgs of beef mince. The chicken wasn’t even on display and the beef mince had no price but as this was a very normal order I expected approx $15-$17 per kg for the beef mince and about $13 per kg for the chicken roughly. Guess what the total came to???? $150.65. And by the way the chicken was full of blood, bone and gristle. I’ve never had chicken that bad. I misheard him and thought he said $50.65 but then my husband said oh no he charged us $150.65. And besides that they were extremely rude, not a single smile to be seen. Do yourself a favour, find a better more friendly and reasonably priced butcher.

OMG. We just had some thick cut scotch fillet my husband got this afternoon. I seriously thought it was high grade wagyu. It just melted in my mouth. Seriously. Best butcher ever and did I mention the jalapeño sausages….. I love that these guys are serious about paddock to plate they break down every beast from beef to the feathered variety. Nothing is left to other suppliers. Whole beast, broken down, and a ‘can do’ whatever your recipe calls for. And the staff are awesome…. always smiling and always happy to help with cooking instructions or even ideas when you’re over finding something the whole family can enjoy.

  • Its so wonderful to go into The Happy Butcher and staff welcome you by name, have a joke with you and supply top quality meat!! Thank you for providing such a fantastic local service. Well done.

The staff were nice the meat was good but it was a little bit expensive but I’d say it was worth the money
